General Men's Health

Why Annual Exams Matter for Men

Annual preventive examinations are the foundation of long-term health. Yet men are significantly less likely than women to seek preventive care. Many present with conditions that could have been identified and managed far earlier through routine screening.

At Renew Health and Wellness, Dr. Jennifer Redmond, CNP, DNP offers a men's health examination that goes far beyond a standard physical. It delivers a comprehensive evaluation of:

  • Hormonal status

  • Metabolic health

  • Cardiovascular risk

  • Overall wellness

This approach identifies imbalances in their earliest, most treatable stages.

Comprehensive Lab Work

The physical examination is paired with detailed lab work that creates a full-spectrum health picture. This drives genuinely personalized preventive care rather than checkbox screening.

Your labs assess:

  • Free and total testosterone

  • Thyroid function

  • Metabolic panel including fasting insulin and glucose

  • Complete blood count (CBC)

  • Lipid fractionation with LDL particle analysis

  • Inflammatory markers including CRP and homocysteine

  • Vitamin D

  • PSA (prostate-specific antigen)

  • Key micronutrients

Cardiovascular Risk Assessment

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in men. Many of its most modifiable risk factors are identifiable and treatable through the integrated care that Dr. Jennifer Redmond, CNP, DNP provides. These include:

  1. Testosterone deficiency

  2. Insulin resistance

  3. Thyroid dysfunction

  4. Dyslipidemia

Cardiovascular risk is prioritized at every annual exam.

Prostate Health

Prostate health is assessed through PSA trending and clinical evaluation. When indicated, Dr. Jennifer Redmond, CNP, DNP coordinates appropriate specialist referrals.

Sleep and Stress

Sleep quality and stress are addressed as legitimate preventive health priorities. Both have a profound influence on:

  • Hormonal balance

  • Cardiovascular risk

  • Metabolic health

Your Investment in Knowing Your Biology

At Renew Health and Wellness, your annual exam is an investment in knowing your biology deeply. Every health decision you make is built on accurate, comprehensive information about where you actually stand.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to help you make the right decision.

Can we keep our current care team while working with you?

Absolutely. Many patients work with us alongside their existing providers. Our integrative, root-cause approach complements traditional reproductive medicine, and we're happy to coordinate with your other providers.

What's your success rate?

Our patients achieve greater than 70% pregnancy success rates, and our outcomes continue to improve as we refine our protocols. Success rates vary based on individual factors including age, underlying conditions, and how long you've been trying — all of which we discuss honestly during your consultation.

I live outside of South Dakota — can I still be seen?

Yes. Dr. Redmond is licensed for telemedicine in South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Montana, Minnesota, and Wyoming, with licensure expanding to Florida and Arizona soon. You can also travel to our Sioux Falls clinic for in-person care. Fertility care often involves labs, which we coordinate with local labs near you.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not accept insurance, which allows us to spend 60–120 minutes per appointment getting to the root cause rather than working within the limits of an insurance-driven system. We accept HSA and FSA payments, and we provide claim forms for potential reimbursement. Initial consultation is $250, with lab testing typically ranging from $150–$800 depending on what's needed.

Can testosterone therapy affect my fertility?

This is an important question. Standard testosterone replacement can actually suppress sperm production, so fertility optimization in men requires a careful, specialized approach. Dr. Redmond's men's health training allows her to optimize hormones in ways that support — rather than compromise — your fertility goals. This is exactly why a thorough evaluation matters before starting any therapy.
