  • Hormonal acne resolution: Addressing androgen-driven skin symptoms

  • Weight management support: Tailored to each patient's metabolism and body composition

Hormones & Metabolism

Irregular or frequently missed periods are often the first sign that something is disrupting the delicate hormonal balance that governs the menstrual cycle. At Renew Health and Wellness, we recognize this as a meaningful clinical signal - not something to be masked with birth control alone. Dr. Jennifer Redmond, CNP, DNP takes a comprehensive diagnostic approach to cycle irregularity in women with PCOS, beginning with thorough lab work that evaluates androgen levels, LH and FSH ratios, insulin and blood sugar markers, thyroid function, and ovarian reserve - alongside a detailed symptom and history review. This depth of evaluation allows her to understand the specific hormonal and metabolic drivers behind your cycle disruption, rather than applying a generic protocol.

Treatment is built around addressing the root causes - most often a combination of insulin resistance, elevated androgens, and disrupted ovulation signaling. Lifestyle strategies and targeted nutritional interventions form the backbone of care, with a focus on blood sugar stabilization and reducing the insulin burden that drives androgen excess in PCOS. Medical therapies - such as metformin or inositol supplementation - are added when needed to support ovulation, regulate the hormonal environment, and improve metabolic function. For women seeking fertility, ovulation support and cycle monitoring are central to the plan.

The goal is not simply to induce bleeding artificially. The goal is to restore a natural, predictable cycle by correcting the underlying imbalances. At Renew Health and Wellness, a regular cycle is a sign of genuine hormonal health - and that is exactly what we work toward.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to help you make the right decision.

Can we keep our current care team while working with you?

Absolutely. Many patients work with us alongside their existing providers. Our integrative, root-cause approach complements traditional reproductive medicine, and we're happy to coordinate with your other providers.

What's your success rate?

Our patients achieve greater than 70% pregnancy success rates, and our outcomes continue to improve as we refine our protocols. Success rates vary based on individual factors including age, underlying conditions, and how long you've been trying — all of which we discuss honestly during your consultation.

I live outside of South Dakota — can I still be seen?

Yes. Dr. Redmond is licensed for telemedicine in South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Montana, Minnesota, and Wyoming, with licensure expanding to Florida and Arizona soon. You can also travel to our Sioux Falls clinic for in-person care. Fertility care often involves labs, which we coordinate with local labs near you.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not accept insurance, which allows us to spend 60–120 minutes per appointment getting to the root cause rather than working within the limits of an insurance-driven system. We accept HSA and FSA payments, and we provide claim forms for potential reimbursement. Initial consultation is $250, with lab testing typically ranging from $150–$800 depending on what's needed.

Can testosterone therapy affect my fertility?

This is an important question. Standard testosterone replacement can actually suppress sperm production, so fertility optimization in men requires a careful, specialized approach. Dr. Redmond's men's health training allows her to optimize hormones in ways that support — rather than compromise — your fertility goals. This is exactly why a thorough evaluation matters before starting any therapy.
